Hi I’m Jeff Kropp and I run the Homebuyer Agents.

A lot of clients ask me “How many homes should I see? What’s a good number?” Well It kind of depends on the market. Right now, we’ve passed the bottom of the real estate market. Many of you don’t know this, but the bottom of the real estate market in Chicagoland was a couple of years ago. Now, real estate is leading the return of the economy. It’s the leading sector. Jobs are still lagging a little bit.

So what that means for you is you’re going to have less homes to see. You’re going to have to make decisions a little quicker than you did before. So, it’s not uncommon for buyers to find their home the first time out. The reason is that they’ve been online looking at a lot of properties and only a couple of them meet their needs. So, when you only have a couple to choose from there’s a good chance that when you go out to see them, one of them is actually going to work for you.

So, you know it’s changing a little bit. On average over the last ten years that I have been doing this typically, you’re going to see about a dozen homes. Maybe not so many right now. When you go out to see homes, you’ll see maybe four or five at a time. You don’t want to get overwhelmed with information. You want to be able to go somewhere after the showings and sit down with someone…your partner, your spouse or whatever and be able to recall details and information about the homes you just saw. It helps you make a decision on which ones to move forward on.

So, that’s a little information about how many homes you should typically see. I’m Jeff Kropp, and we’re the Home Buyer Agents.
