Hi This is Jeff Kropp, I own a company called the Homebuyer Agents. We’re going to cover some common questions that my buyers have when we meet. One common question is “how long does the process take?” The process probably takes two to three months, maybe four months all in. Let’s cover some of that timeline.
First of all you’ll nee to seek a loan pre-approval. You might meet with your lender for a week or so. You’re going to gather some documents that they ask for. It’s going to take them a few days to work on your loan approval. So maybe that takes about a week or so.
You’ll probably meet with a few buyer agents to interview them and then you’re going to make a decision on who to hire. That might take a week or so as well. When you work with that buyer agent, you’ll sit down and determine what your goals are, what your price range is, where you want to live, and probably set up an MLS search online and do some searching online before you actually go out with your agent and see properties.
Lets get to the showings themselves. You’ll meet with your buyer agent and go see four or five properties at a time and you’ll do this until you find the property that you love and has the wow factor. So, in my experience that takes maybe a month or so of viewing properties depending on your needs and expectations.
Finally, you’ll go under contract. You’ll put in a bid. You present your offer. That might take a few days or it might take a week depending on how the negotiations go. Once you’re under contract, you’re going to do a home inspection, you’re going to hire an attorney to look at your sales contract, and you’re going to apply for the financing. So that whole process might take about thirty days, maybe forty five days to do your due diligence and take care of all the things that have to be taken care of before you’re ready to close.
So again all of that is about two to three months and sometimes a little less sometimes a little more but on average two to three months. Thanks, I’m Jeff Kropp and we’re the Home Buyer Agents.
